FTL Futbol Hellenic League Premier Division club Flackwell Heath earned a well merited 2-0 home success over Wiltshire visitors Malmesbury Victoria at the weekend, thanks to quality set-piece headers from frontman Lee Thompson and defensive lynch-pin Paul Shone.
Victory gave the Buckinghamshire outfit back-to-back league wins that moved them up to seventh in the table.
Joint boss Matt Flint (pictured) confirmed to nonleaguedaily that with three league contests on the road in succession to negotiate, starting with third-placed Almondsbury Town this Saturday, his players received a massive fillip in front of the Wilks Park faithful against Malmesbury.
Flackwell have registered three clean sheets in all competitions and managed to build on the 1-0 success at Binfield`s Stubbs Lane last Monday - the season league `double` being recorded over the Berkshire outfit, thanks to a 28th minute match winner from midfielder Stuart McLellan.
Sandwiched between the Binfield and Malmesbury league games was Wednesday`s Wilks Park 6-0 success over Berkshire County Sports in the Reading Senior Cup second round.
Flint`s men will now play Reading Senior League side Highmoor at the quarter final stage, giving his team something to aim for – a final at Reading`s Madejski Stadium.
Flint said: “On Reading Senior Cup duty we are in the other half of the draw to our groundshare partners Marlow United, and a possible potential meeting with them at the Madejski would be the icing on the cake!
“We have a settled dressing room and there is a will to win and all round contentment within the camp at present.”
The Heathens are on track to push on towards the end of campaign objective of top six finish and push on next time around - Senior Cup participation giving it the extra spice along the way.
