Senior Colts Coach, Chris Lyons, has stepped up to the senior set-up and has joined the coaching team

Chris will be supporting the coaching of the senior players, whilst continuing his coaching role with the Senior Colts, in the coming season.

Over the past couple of months, Chris has gradually increased his involvement in the senior rugby section at the club. Chris has been an invaluable assistant to Dan Orwin and has led various aspects of training. His involvement in the coaching of senior rugby is something that has happened fairly naturally. Initially, Chris asked if his Senior Colts could join in with senior training, which Dan and the senior coaches were more than happy to agree. This meant that we were getting around 40 players attending training regularly. With Mike Kelly and James Doherty being ‘player-coaches,’ this meant that Dan was running ‘socially distanced’ training on his own. Chris recognised this and stepped into help one night, and the rest is history!

Dan Orwin said: ‘It’s great to have Chris on board; has been involved in every session since the start of August and I am enjoying our coaching discussions. Chris is an RFU level 2 qualified coach and has a lot of experience so it’s good to have him to bounce ideas off when Mike is involved in training himself, and Dozza can’t be here. Chris isn’t afraid to challenge either and challenge is important in any environment that is striving to be successful.’
