The 1st match in the new season saw Fleetwood defend their unbeaten home record to local regulars Blackburn. The match was played over 4 separate 15 minute quarters and after an excellent display of Blackburn tackling Fleetwood broke the deadlock with a score from Stand-Off James Amor, Blackburn replied soon after with a score of their own, Alex Ogden crashed over to end the 1st quarter 12-7 to the good.
The second period saw more resolute tackling from the visitors but Amor and Ogden added to their individual tallies to end the half 24-7.
By the 3rd quarter Fleetwood opended up play and scrum half Kieran Butler, Winger Harrison Stott and Second Row Joe Sharratt to lead 45-7.
Despite the score Blackburn scrum half Joe Zebedee dealt with pressure well but could not stop the continued pressure from the Fleetwood forwards, this presented the ball for the backs to complete the scoring with great individual efforts from Harrison Stott and Anthony Goffin. Final score 59-7 with Amor kicking 6 and Will Gair 1 conversion
A great start to the new season, mentions to new starters John McCann and both Tylers who all impressed the coaches.
