After the disappointment of seeing the 2020/21 season cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there was renewed optimism last night as the North East Wales League have given clubs a start date for the 2021/22 season, following on from the FAW announcing their cup dates for the Welsh Cup and FAW Amateur Trophy.
The first game for the revamped North East Wales Premier Division will be Saturday 3rd July, with the Welsh Cup starting on Saturday 10th July and the FAW Amateur Trophy starting on Saturday 17th July.
Clubs have also recieved news that the Mike Beech Memorial Trophy will be reintroduced in a Champions League style tournament. First launched in the 2018/19 season, Halkyn & Flint Mountain were the inaugural winners of the trophy after a convincing 6-1 victory over Penyffordd Lions. The Mountain are still the current holders after the competition was cut short the following season.
We now look forward to receiving the first fixtures
