Today we put in a massively improved display and we had almost most of the possession through the whole game. We started very positively and almost took the lead in the 1st minute, a fine cross from Ryan Davies on the left finds Shaun Williams who chests the ball down which beats his marker but his low shot went narrowly wide. On 4 minutes a Ryan Hedges corner is cleared only to Stewart Carroll and his great effort from the edge of the box is brilliantly saved by Dave Littleford in the guils goal but the so called Referee who was only 3 yards away awarded a goal kick. Guilsfield did take the lead against the run of play on 19 minutes when down the left Matty Harvey is caught flat footed and Martyn Zieman is left clear and scores low past the advancing Flint keeper. Flint continued to push and on 36 minutes Stewart Carroll was unlucky with a low 25 yard drive. Right on half time sees two chances The first falling to Flint where a lofted ball in from Shaun Williams finds Shaun Beck but his free header from 5 yards out went tamely wide. Straight from the goal kick Guilsfields Will Thomas fins himself clear but his effort is well saved by Jones in the Flint goal.
The second half Flint keep up the tempo and on 47 minutes sees Stuart Hughes hit over from 16 yards out following a great chest down from Aaron Edwards. Flints pressure finally paid off on 71 minutes when sub Nathan Peate headed in a Shaun Beck cross from the left. Flint took the lead 2 minutes later on 73 minutes when a great square ball from Stewart Carroll is hit first time from 25 yards out by Aaron Edwards and the ball rocketed into the top of the net for a quality goal. Flint got their third on 88 minutes when from an Aaron Edwards lay off Ryan Davies took one touch and let fly into the top corner of the net from the edge of the box for another great goal. The final minutes were edgy for Flint as James Henderson on 90+1 pulled one back with a left foot volley following a Flint clearance. Right at the end Martyn Ziemann headed against the cross bar from close range. Guilsfield finished the game with 10 men when Will Thomas was sent off on 87 minutes for time wasting.
A good result today and now a semi final on Wednesday night at Buckley's Globe Way against Conwy to prepare for.
