We bowed out of this seasons league cup at the semi final stage tonight but only at the way of the lottery of a penalty shoot out. We dominated this game tonight with Conwy offering very little. In an average first have we had a great deal of the possession but our final ball in was lacking quality. Conwy took the lead on 20 minutes but it was Flints John Hill who scored their goal with a spectacular 20 yard chip over his own keeper.Flints only shot at goal was a long range effort wide from Shaun Williams.
The second half was virtually all Flint and we were level on 61 minutes when a Conwy clearance fell to Stuart Hughes and his first time volley from from 22 yards out flew into the top corner of the net. Flint nearly took the lead on 67 minutes when from a high ball up field from Stuart Hughes, Phill Lloyd  chased the ball against the in running Conwy keeper and his lob from 30 yards out went just over the bar. Flint thought they had stole the game late on when a bending cross from Stewart Carroll is met by the head of an unmarked John Hill but his effort glances narrowly wide from 6 yards out..
The first half of extra time sees a Ryan  Davies 23 yard free kick go just over the bar.
The second half sees Conwy take the lead, a 40 yard free kick is played in and Anthony Miley heads in totally unopposed from 5 yards out. Flint level on 116 minutes when from the right Paul Williams crosses to the far post where Jon Rush heads back across goal and Ryan Davies is on hand to tap the ball into the net.
So into the lottery of penalties, the first 2 were scored, Flints by Stuart Hughes but Conwy took the advantage when John Davies sent Flints second penalty over the bar.Ryan Davies and Jon Rush both scored Flints next 2 penalties with Steve Cunningham missing Conwy's forth to level the shoot out. Chris King then missed Conwy's 5th so up stepped Flints Stewart Carroll to win the game but he sky's his effort. Kyle Robb misses Conwy's next but Shaun Beck allows the keeper to save again. Conwy won the tie when Josh Griffiths scores his penalty as next Flints Paul Williams sees his penalty saved.
Very unlucky tonight as we dominated this game but we should have put the game to bed in normal time such were our chances in this game. Back to domestic football now this Saturday against Caersws at home.
