Tonight we crashed out of the North East Wales Cup with a display and attitude that lacked desire as all Flint really had was a lump up field which had very little effect and although we had plenty of possession our quality in the final third of the field lacked a lot to be desired and all this against a much weakened side 2 divisions below us.
In a poor first half Flint had plenty of possession but their quality of play in the final third left a lot to be desired. The only incident in the half came on 9 minutes, Mark Winslade about to unleash a close range shot was clattered but the ref gave a corner instead of the blatant penalty.
The second half we have plenty of possession again and a few chances but continue to play the lump the ball up field tactic. Flint level on 50 minutes from a Jordan Beck goal with an assist from Mark Winslade. Jordan Beck turned provider minutes later but both Mark Winslade and Shaun Beck fail to get a touch on the ball. Alun are level on 65 minutes from a Bizarre 35 yard own goal from Flints Luke Camden. Flints Graham Dyment runs 70 yards on 77 minutes and his second attempt on goal is helped on it's way by Mark Winslade but the Alun keeper manages to get a toe on it. Luke Camden hits the post on 84 minutes with his header from a Stewart Carroll corner. Alun win the game on 90 minutes as from a non threatening attack, Lewis Clamp glides past Johnny hill on the far side as if he wasn't there, crosses low past the Flint keeper and Dan Hughes taps in on the line unmarked.
Although Alun won the game with their only shot at goal this is not acceptable to the healthy crown that had assembled to witness this shambles. Flint really need to find the execution in front goal to turn superior possession into goals.
