After matching their WPL opponents for the first half, ill discipline again let Flint down as they were reduced to 10 men and eventually lost 3-0

The Silkmen had the better of the opening exchanges and carved out some half chances, but were unable to profit from them. Then, midway through the first half, Bala ramped up the pressure and delivered some telling crosses that put the Flint backline under pressure. That was the prelude to the opening goal, which arrived on 28 minutes. Following good work in the build up by Mike Hayes, Henry Jones was able to deliver a cross that failed to be dealt with by the Flint defence, with the result that Steven Tames had an easy header from all of 2 yards out. The referee ignored Flint protests that Tames had been in an offside position, and awarded the goal.
Going in 1-0 down at the break was harsh on the home side, but poor defending for the goal and not making the most of their own chances cost the Silkmen. In a further blow, they also lost Andy Brown to injury, as he had to leave the pitch with a suspected broken bone in his foot.
The tie was effectively over as a contest in the space of a few second half minutes, however, when Flint were reduced to 10 men before conceding another goal shortly after.
Skipper Richie Foulkes saw red following an overly physical altercation with Tames, which also saw the Bala man booked. Unfortunately, this dismissal will rule Foulkes out of next Saturday's big game at home to Airbus as well as our Boxing Day clash at Holywell. This latest sending off now brings our tally up to six for the season so far, five of which have been straight reds.
On the hour mark, Bala struck their second, when Aaron Jones failed to collect the ball from a free kick, presenting Chris Venables with a tap in.
The game was well and truly over in the 70th minute, as Bala run in their third of the evening. With Flint stretched, Tames made a good break down the left before cutting in and squaring to Hayes, who slotted home.
So in the end, it turned out to be a comprehensive win for the Lakesiders, although their cause was helped by some poor defending and ill discipline from the home side.
