in a performance which, in many ways, typified all that has gone wrong with our season so far, Flint shipped five goals without reply at Maes Tegid.

Both teams come into the game having conceded six goals the previous weekend, but in truth only one side looked as though they were determined to make amends, and that was Bala. Too many familiar failings were on display from Flint as they failed to get to grips with the Lakesiders.
The Silkmen were guilty of not closing down their opponents, allowing them too much time and space on the ball. Runners were not being tracked, defensive cover from the midfield was absent at vital times, and to cap it all, when they did have the ball, possession was all too easily surrendered with some poor choices of passing, or dwelling too long on the ball.
Given all this, it was surprising that the score was only 1-0 at half time, but the home side went on to dominate things in the second period and rack up a further four goals.
Having already had a goal ruled out for what appeared to be handball in the build up, Bala took the lead on 19 minutes. They had already looked dangerous several times down their left flank, and when Lassana Mendes picked the ball up he immediately cut in to the edge of the box and unleashed a quality shot in the top corner of Ryan Wood's net.
Flint managed to register their first shot on target on 23 minutes when Josh Amis won a header from a goal kick, then managed to collect the loose ball and fired on goal, but Harri Lloyd managed to scramble it away and push the ball out, in not the most convincing of fashion.
On the half hour, Flint put together what was probably their best move of the game. Jordan Buckley was fed by Rob Hughes, and he found Dan Roberts who had moved down the right wing in support. Roberts put over an excellent cross, but good covering by Sean Smith from almost under his own crossbar, enabled him to head the ball up and away from danger.
On the stroke of half time, Flint allowed a dangerous Bala attack to penetrate their area, and Chris Venables powered in a close range header, but Woods did extremely well to get down and save the effort.
For all their possession, and attacking intent, Bala could only boast the slenderest of advantages at the interval, and it was up to Flint to step up their game in the second half. From the restart, they looked to do exactly that, as Eddie Clarke make a good run and hit a long range shot that whistled just wide of the post.
But, then they were caught out yet again from a set piece, when from a corner, Anthony Kay was left unmarked at the back post to head home in the 48th minute.
From there on in, it was one way traffic, and a question of how many goals Bala would notch up.
The ball was sloppily given away in their own half by Flint on 57 minutes, and Venables was fed, and he drove a shot that thundered into the net off the underside of the crossbar.
A swift one touch passing move by the hosts on 74 minutes was rewarded when Steve Leslie arrowed the ball into the net from around 25 yards out.
Venables completed the scoring on 83 minutes, when he reacted quickest to a free kick played in low to the near post, and swept the ball home, completing a five goal haul for the hosts and a thoroughly miserable afternoon for the visitors.
