Flint tonight put in an excellent display against Vauxhall Motors despite going down 2-1. Straight from the start Flint were in control and took the lead on 9 minutes when Gary McConnell headed home a Matty Roberts cross. Flint pushed for the rest of the half and squandered a number of chances to extend their lead, Gary McConnell beating two men but hit the keeper whilst free on goal. Vauxhall got level against the run of play on 42 minutes, Tony Ashton with a far post tap in from a Ali Ascari cross.
The second half sees a number of changes and sub Luke Tyson deep cross on 59 almost sees Simon Thelwell head Flint back in front. Flint miss a number of good chances but its Vauxhall who take the honours on 84 minutes when Mike Banks handles in the box and Charley Opare converts the awarded penalty. Not the result Flint wanted but a good display to take into the game against Skelmersdale on Saturday.
