Flint progressed into the fourth round of the Welsh cup with a combatable win in a rather sombre affair of a match. Flint opened the scoring in the 13th minute, Jason Renshaw picking up a loose ball mid-way in the Newport half, Lays forward to Jorden Brierley who hits a peach of a strike from 25 yards over the advancing Newport keeper James Cairns. On 34 minutes Shaun Beck picks up the ball passes two Newport defenders but runs it too far but with an element of luck the ball runs towards the line and Newport right back Matty Smith helps the ball over the line. The third Flint goal was a cracker of an own goal from Gareth Bennet, chipping his own keeper from 30 yards on 53 minutes. On 63 minutes Newport have their only shot on goal with a weak effort from Nick Cadman. Flint wrap up the game on 78 minutes when Sub Luke Tyson crosses from the right and sub Jon Rush heads home from 7 yards.
We now await the outcome of Monday evenings draw to see who will meet in the last 16 of the competition.
