After storming into a 3-0 first half lead, Flint were left hanging on at the end, as a spirited second half fightback from Port reduced the arrears to 3-2.

But hold out they did, to record a sixth consecutive win in all competitions (fifth in the league) to climb up to 6th position in the table.
It was one way traffic in the first half, as Flint laid seige to the Porthmadog goal, creating a plethora of chances.
With John Davies returned to his favoured centre back role, Russ Courtney was pushed into a centre forward position alongside Kyle Smyth, with Simon Thelwell operating slightly behind the front two.
Flint showed their intent on 3 minutes, when a Stewart Carroll corner was delivered to the back post to Mark McGregor who found himself in space. He elected to attack the ball with his feet rather than his head, and his effort struck the bar and bounced over.
A good move on 14 minutes ended with Thelwell tapping the ball into the path of Paul McManus, whose curling shot from 18 yards just cleared the bar.
The breakthrough came on 18 minutes when left back Phil Doran played a sublime ball down the wing into the path of Smyth. He took it in his stride, moved into the box, drove past a defender and hit a shot to the near post, that caught Port keeper Richard Harvey unaware, and nestled in the back of the net.
On 23 minutes, a clearance from Johnny Hill, found Smyth once more, but this time Harvey distinguished himself with a good save, as Smyth ran in on goal and unleashed his shot.
Flint were rewarded with their second goal on 35 minutes. Following a good passage of play, Hill retrieved the ball from near the corner flag and pulled a great ball back across the box. McManus, without breaking stride, got onto the end of it, and cooly slotted home.
Three minutes later, Doran picked the ball up on the half way line, before galloping down the wing and then cutting in towards goal. Once again Harvey was called into action, as he produced a good save to deny Doran.
Right on half time, Flint extended their lead further, with the crucial third goal. Johnny Hill intercepted a pass, breaking down a Porthmadog attack. He, in turn, set up a decisive Flint counter attack, as he found Thelwell, who flicked the ball into Smyth's path. Smyth shrugged off the attentions of his defender as he run onto the ball, carrying it to just outside of the box, before hitting a 20 yarder into the net giving Harvey no chance.
The first half probably represented the most emphatic performance Flint had delivered all season, and they were well worth their 3-0 lead as they headed in for their half time break.
Porthmadog manager Craig Papirnyk decided to ring the changes at half-time, bringing on Stuart Rodgers and Eilir Edwards, both of whom would have a big role to play in dragging them back into the game.
It took Port just over the hour mark to get their first meaningful effort onto the Flint goal, and it was also the beginning of their first period of sustained pressure, which was to provide them with a lifeline. Substitute Edwards made his presence felt, when he hit a shot that was destined for the top corner, until Dalton sprang to his left to tip it over the bar. From the corner, the ball was half cleared to the lurking Edwards, whose shot had Dalton scrambling across the face of his goal, to push it out for another corner.
Unfortunately, Flint failed to heed the warning, and from the next corner the ball was cleared to the unmarked Edwards on the edge of the box, and it was third time lucky for him, as he drilled a sweet shot into the back of the Flint net before anyone could react.
The Silkmen were suddenly struggling to find any outlet whatsoever, and they were merely content to repel the visitor's attacks before bracing themselves for the next one.
Port brought it back to 3-2 on 68 minutes, when a cross was swung over from the right, where Hamilton rose to challenge for the ball. Dalton came rushing out from his goal to try and punch the ball, but failed to connect cleanly, and instead only succeeded in helping the ball fall at the feet of the unmarked Edwards, who gratefully accepted the opportunity to score his second.
Flint were now very much on the defensive and it was just a question as to whether they would hold out for the remainder of the game. Craig Jones dug deep to marshall his troops and try and keep Port at bay.
When Smyth was withdrawn after 80 minutes, Flint were bereft up front in terms of pace, and struggled to find any sort of penetration in the opposition half. They had a couple of let offs in the closing stages, when Port had a goal ruled out for offside following an incisive passing move, and then from a corner in the 88th minute, the ball was flashed across the 6 yard box, but fortunately no Port attacker could get a meaningful touch on the ball, as it seemed to hit a thigh and ballooned over the bar, much to the relief of the Flint defence.
This was an extremely entertaining game played in good spirit and in rainswept conditions on a heavy pitch. Based upon their first half performance and the number of chances created, Flint probably just deserved to hang on for all 3 points, although Porthmadog should be applauded for the manner in which they came at the home side in the second period.
So we shall head into next week's crucial game at Denbigh with confidence high on the back of five straight league wins.
