A poor quality game played on a tricky surface saw Prestatyn claim the spoils.

Neither goalkeeper was overly worked during the 90 minutes, and there was a sense of frustration amongst the Flint supporters that the visiting side didn't take the game more to the league leaders, especially after falling behind on the half hour mark.
New signings Chris Roberts and Chris Rowntree made their debuts for the Silkmen, as the starting line up contained several changes to the previous week.
The opening exchanges were very much a sparring joust between the two side with Prestatyn having most of the possession but not doing too much with it. Flint looked to try and release Andy Brown down the left or James Hooper down the right when the opportunity arose, and Hooper did manage to get clear on one occasion, but drifted too wide with the result that his final shot lacked the power required to beat Carl Jones in the Prestatyn goal.
A dull first half was briefly enlivened with the awarding of a penalty after 30 minutes. Brown, in a defensive position just inside the 18 yard area, initially did well in making a challenge to win possession back for his side. But then instead of clearing his lines, he tried to dribble his way out of trouble, and lost the ball. In his efforts to win it back, he stuck out an inviting leg, that Jordan Davies fell over to win a penalty for the home side. The Prestatyn hitman took responsibility from the spot, to put his side 1-0 up.
Flint briefly threatened in the second half to get on terms with a couple of good moves almost paying dividends. First, on 63 minutes, Levi Mackin found Hooper in space, and he in turn played a delicate ball into the path of Kyle Smyth, whose goalbound effort took a deflection off a defender to send it just over the bar.
On 71 minutes, Brown got to the bye line and put in a good cross to find Smyth in space, but as he got the ball under control he was closed down and the danger was cleared.
The home side then took the initiative once more, and Damien Kettley and Jordan Davies had decent efforts that just went the wrong side of the post within the space of a couple of minutes, before they eventually increased their lead on 77 minutes. Skipper Mike Parker returned a ball back into the box, and Reece Fairhurst was on hand to head home.
Not long after, Noah Edwards hit a stinging shot that Ben Jones did well to touch over the bar.
With 10 minutes left, both sides were reduced to ten men, when, following an off the ball incident, Levi Mackin was shown a straight red, and Jack Lewis received two yellow cards within the space of 30 seconds, the second presumably for something he said to the referee after receiving his first caution.
In stoppage time, Flint thought they had scored a consolation effort, as Richie Foulkes looked certain to find the net after twisting and turning in the box, before hitting a rising close range shot, that once again was deflected over the bar.
For a team that needed to claim the three points to try and close the gap at the top, Flint seemed to approach the game in a very low key manner. Whether this was a deliberate strategy to try and draw the sting from their opponents and frustrate them is open to debate, but having fallen a goal behind they were unable to sufficiently change gear and show enough as an attacking force to get back into the game.
