Flint tonight lost out to local rivals Buckley at Globe way by one goal but it could have been more had Buckley striker Mike Burke took his easy chances. Flint did have a vast amount of the possession but Buckley were quite happy to allow Flint the possession as Flint were not far short of awful when they reached the Buckley box. It was a bad defensive mistake which allowed Mike Burke to score from 20 yards on 29 minutes from a harmless attack, Danny Dobbins turning his back on the ball. Ten minutes later Burke was clear when Matty Harvey and John Davies couldn’t decide who was to challenge but he put his shot wide from 10 yards. Flint did miss a guilt edge chance right on half time when Tom McGill lays in Jorden Brierely and he hits the post from only 3 yards out.
Flint again missed an easy chance in the first minute of the second half this time Jason Renshaw the culprit. That was the end of the guilt edge chances for Flint only a few desperate shots well wide to shout about. On 73 minutes Burke again hits a great shot for Buckley this time beating McGee in the Flint goal but the ball hits the angle of the goal and rolls to safety.
As was said Flint had the majority of the possession but the difference between the two teams was that when Buckley attacked they looked as if they were about to score whereas Flints quality in the last eighth of the pitch was none existence. We now have to re-group for next Saturday when we welcome Rhyl in what will be a very tricky tie.
