Flint find some Red Hot form on an Ice Cold day

The hardy souls who braved the arctic conditions at Cae-Y-Castell were treated to a dominant display by the Silkmen as they ran out 3-0 winners.

This win means Flint overtake their opponents in the table, and move up to 10th spot, having been stuck for what seemed like an eternity in 11th position.
From the off, there was a spirit and determination from the home side not to let this chance pass them by, and they took the game to Holyhead, going close early on when a Mark Cadwallader effort struck the bar. But their pressure eventually paid dividends, and they took the lead through a resurgent Shaun Beck on 18 minutes, who applied the finish to a great cross by Ieuan Hewitt.
Hewitt was again the provider as Flint doubled their advantage on 38 minutes, though this time it was Cadwallader who got on the end of the cross.
Hotspur were aggrieved shortly before the interval when they had a penalty shout turned down, and their protestations continued as they departed the field at half time. But Flint were well in control and fully deserved their 2-0 interval lead.
In the second half, Beck initially went close again, putting an effort just wide of the post on 49 minutes, before the Harbourmen started to secure more possession of the ball, although they were unable to convert it into any worthwhile goal scoring chances. Flint were content to sit back and absorb the pressure, and look to hit their opponents on the break, having secured the two goal cushion.
The points were well and truly secured in the 76th minute, when skipper Carl Rodgers was fouled in the Hotspur box, and Richie Foulkes slotted home his seventh spot kick of the season.
As the game was drawing to a close, Hotspur managed to finally get the ball in the Flint net, only for the effort to be ruled out for offside, thus completing a miserable afternoon for the visitors as they slumped to their fifth straight league defeat. For Flint meanwhile, this win should provide the perfect fillip, as this match marked the first of 3 consecutive home games, and now gives us the perfect chance to build upon this result and improve our hitherto disappointing home form.

Thanks to Mike Jones and Stewart Roberts for braving the bitterly cold temperatures and providing me with the details for the above report, as I was personally unable to make it to the game
