A poor result for us today as our away day blues continue with this 2-2 draw. Although we had a large chunk of the possession and we had attack after attack this game panned out with a combination of factors which included a few good saves from Luke Evans in the Rhayadar goal combined with some elements of luck and once again at times in front goal we look clueless as the chances were there for the taking and easy chances at that. Flint should have gone in front on 9 minutes when from a great ball over the Rhayadar defence from Aaron Edwards, Ross Rule finds himself clear on goal but puts his chance well wide of the target from 8 yards out. 11 minutes sees Aaron Edwards hit a shot from the edge of the box which takes a deflection and Evans in the Rhayadar goal pulls off one of his good saves. Flint take the lead on 17 minutes, Ross Rule lays in a low cross and Aaron Edwards scores from 10 yards out. Rhayadar are level 2 minutes later, Nathan Peate adjudged to have pushed a Rhayadar forward in the box and Mike Collister converts the awarded penalty. Flints Ryan Hedges rides 3 tackles but puts his effort too close to the keeper on 31 minutes. Aaron Edwards almost gave Flint the lead on 36 minutes but his close range header is brilliantly saved diving low to his left by Luke Evans in the Rhayadar goal. Flint do go into the break in front when a Aaron Edwards cross is only cleared to Mitch Roberts on the edge of the box and he scores low on 44 minutes.
The second half is no different but does see Rhayadar offer more in attack. Adam Oakley hits the Flint cross bar from 14 yards out on 61 minutes. Rhayadar are level on 65 minutes when pathetic defending from a corner sees Christian Jones unmarked at the far post and scores all too easily. Mike Jones in the Flint goal makes a great save on 66 minutes to denie Mike Collister from range. Flint have another great chance on 75 minutes, Sam Jones playing in Aaron Edwards but he only manages to hit the Rhayadar keeper from close range on the turn. Flint continued to push for the rest of the game but ran out of ideas.
A home tie next week at home to Ruthin to prepare for now.
