In our final home game of the campaign we disappointingly lost 4-2 to high flying Caersws. This game was lost in a disasterious 20 minutes in the second half where we simply stopped playing and showed no desire for this game. Caersws almost opened the scoring on 5 minutes when Neil Mitchell is left clear but Mike Jones in the Flint goal made a good save. Flints Jon Rush was clear on goal on 27 minutes but was too slow to make a shot and was caught in possession. Caersws have another great chance on 38 minutes when Iwan Lewis sees his 8 yard drive deflected for a corner by Nathan Peate. Caersws take the lead on 40 minutes with Graham Evans converting a penalty after Nathan Peat was adjudged to have pulled down a Caersws player in the box. Flint almost levelled with the last kick of the half when Stewart Carroll played in a great ball for Tom McGill but Mcgill failed to get a foot on the ball.
The opening 20 minutes of the second half sees Flint flop and allow Caersws two quick goals, the first coming on 51 minutes when Adam Jenkins runs 10 yards seeing off the attention of John Davies and Nathan Peate and scores low from a tight angle. Mark Griffiths scores from 22 yards out on 54 minutes with the Flint keeper miles off his line. That seemed to kick start Flints challenge and they upped the tempo and pulled one back on 63 minutes when John Davies rifled one in following up a Jon Rush headed effort off the cross bar. Flint pull another one back on 77 minutes when a fine cross in from Shaun Beck is headed on to Jon Rush and he makes no mistake from 6 yards out. Flint continue to push but let themselves down on 90 minutes when some poor and lacklustre defending along with a mad rush out of goal from Mike Jones and Neil Mitchel is allowed to score from the edge of the box.
A disappointing end to the home campaign but we still need to improve for the remaining 4 away games we have left.
