A home win but we were made to work hard for the win especially as we played 64 minutes of the game with 10 men.
Flint were lively at the start and had the first shot of the match on 2 minutes as Penrhyn keeper Richard Morgan turned a Jorden Beck effort out for a corner. Penrhyns Stuart Fraser almost scored 2 minutes later but a last ditch quality challenged from John Hill denied him. Minutes later John Hill saw his headed effort saved following a Stewart Carroll corner. Flint Keeper Richard Walker made a good save on 17 minutes following a low shot from Mark Edmondson. The winning goal came on 24 minutes as from a great tackle from Stewart Carroll, Mark Winslade picked up the ball, cut inside and shot low from 20 yards into the bottom corner of the net. Two minutes later Flints resilient was to be tested as Luke Camden was a shade unlucky to be shown red after he was deemed to be the last man but clearly there were 2 Flint defenders covering.
The second half was dull and Flint were on the back foot for most of it but the Flint defence stood firm and swallowed up every Penrhyn attack, Walker didn’t have to make a save in the half. Flint almost went 2 up on 66 minutes as a Lee Davey Cross was almost headed home by Penrhyns Liam Jones but the keeper saved his blushes. Both Stewart Carroll and Lee Davey saw long range shots just miss the target mid-way through the second half. The final talking point came late on as Ramon Guiz was shown a second yellow card for a nasty looking challenge on Jorden Beck.
A good win considering playing with 10 men. Now a tricky trip to Buckley on Tuesday night.
