We travelled away to Conwy tonight and we came away with a 2-1 defeat but we were more than worth a point in this game as the winner came as a sucker punch on 94 minutes and the two Conwy goals came from the only two mistakes Flint made tonight.
We were by far the better side in the first half with the impressive Luke Camden leading from the back and the midfield linking up well with the front two to cause problems for the Conwy back line. The opening minute saw Johnny Taylor deliver a great cross but Graham Dyment just failed to get a clear head on it. Flint were quality for the opening 20 minutes and should have gone ahead on 21 minutes as a Jordan Beck corner was nodded down by Taylor but Mark Windlade was too slow to react and the ball was collected by the Conwy keeper. Conwy had a lively last 5 minutes with Danny Desormeaux and Steve Connor seeing long range efforts fly over the bar.
Conwy took the lead early in the second half on 53 minutes as when in no trouble, Lee Davey tried to be clever and was caught in possession and the resulting cross was converted by Alun Bull at the far post. Flint picked themselves up and played some good football and got their just reward on 71 minutes following a John Davies throw in as Lee Davey made amends for his earlier mistake as his shot on the turn rocketed into the top of the net. Late on Mark Winslade saw his shot just go over the bar. Right at the death Conwy won the game as from a corner Luke Camden lost his man and Gareth Sudlow had a free header to seal the win.
Gutting tonight as we showed great character and quality throughout the game to lose at such a late stage.
