Following a season of absence, Folly Lane Cubs will be back in action in 2015 following talks with local clubs where we hope to hold ‘joint sessions'

The cubs programme in 2012 and the early stages of 2013 was a huge success, with regular visits to Eccles, Westhoughton, Rylands, Woolston and Orrell. All of the children enjoyed a ‘match day’ experience both at Blue Ribbon Playing Fields and on our travels. The ‘joint training sessions’ stood all the children in good stead in preparation to playing organised games in the teams from under 7’s upwards.

The intention is to promote a fun game experience for children between the ages of 4 and 6, which will create the opportunity for the children to improve their understanding of the game, understanding the importance of team work, developing motor skills and generally having fun! The club will continue its philosophy of ensuring maximum participation and the equal development of every child. The mind set of everyone being equal has been a huge success for the club with record participation levels and more importantly the retention of children between the ages 6 and 10.

We are currently in discussions with Eccles, Langworthy, Bury and Cadishead with the view to run ‘joint sessions’ on a fairly regular basis (probably every 2 or 3 weeks) starting in April 2015. Coaches Ronnie Woodward and Andrew Fisher are both looking forward to the latest crop of Folly Laner’s taking the field.

If you would be interested in your child playing for our new Cubs team, please speak to Yvonne Salerno at our Holding Group Sessions every Saturday mornings held at Pendlebury Recreation Centre between 11 am and 12 pm or contact Daz Fairhurst on T: 07850 268614.
