A good win over a strong Bromley 3s team.

Whilst the 1st XV took on Southwark Lancers in Kent 1, the 2nd XV took to the field for the first away Merit Table game of the season with a strong team. The Bromley side boasted 6 subs but Footscray managed 4 subs in what would be important for the game. Bromley dominated the opening exchanges going down the hill and with the rain and wind behind them. But keeping ball in hand was difficult in the conditions. Fred Crouch made our first clean break and put Joe Puddifoot in place for his first penalty kick when Bromley went off their feet 3-0. This was quickly followed by another as Joe built a score 6-0. The rest of the half was pretty even until Joe took a quick tap penalty from 30 yards out and caught Bromley napping 13-0 and half time.
After half time things moved away from Bromley who were beginning to struggle with injuries, the hill and wind. Tries from Tom Cole and Leigh put the game to bed. But Bromley did not stop trying and hit back with a good try making the final score 28-7. It was great to see the recruitment drive from the summer pay dividends with 6 players making their debut's. The man of the match was Luca Reynolds who made break after break but was also more than solid in defence, just one week after his 17th Birthday. A great debut from Harry Watkins on the wing and Keiran joining the forwards (probably unexpectedly). Scotty and Tom added some great rugby skills and battling defense. Big Greg playing his first ever game of rugby making two power runs to create tries.
Well done lads lets keep up the commitment and training.
