FHP put in a comprehensive performance and got the right result to progress into round 3 of the League cup. Reserves win 2-1 against Old Colfiens.

The recent weather caused many fixtures to fall victim of the heavy rainfall. The expected phone call/text from Holland Sports to add this cup match to the casualty list... never came.......bizarrely enough...game on! The pleasant journey to leafy Oxted proved ever more so rewarding for Forest HIll.

Holland Sports currently mid table in their first season in the premier division - after gaining promotion from div one last season - and Forest Hill, top of the table in the division below, also adding the previous encounters to the mix, it was clear a good contest was in store.

The pitch was relatively heavy in areas, and just about got the go ahead as a playable surface.

However, manager Canturk Yanpar, shuffled his squad after last weeks unfortunate loss and the players responded well to the changes.

The hosts had the lion share of possession in the opening 15 minutes, as they asked questions of FHPs defensive units. To their credit, they worked extremely hard to create chances but the away side were equal to them and defended resolutely, also Vlad pulling off a couple of good saves. FHP themselves also created a couple of good chances, but the execution also seemed to be illusive, the keeper also pulled off a few good stops.
For all their efforts, Holland Sports ended the first half frustrated, as the scoreline remained 0-0.

HT - 0-0

The second half had an entirely different complexion. The pendulum swung in Forest Hills favour, as they dominated possession and created some great goal scoring opportunities. It was end to end stuff on occasion, but in the main FHP were controlling the game and looking far more dangerous as the threats towards the hosts goal became more apparent.

Midway through the 2nd half, the dead lock was unsurprisingly broken, a skilful run by Saidou in the box, by beating two players somehow slotted the ball across, Thierry at the near post made no mistake and finished off his team mates hard work.

0-1

The hosts were naturally deflated, with a sense of it wasn't their day became clearly evident.
Forest Hill generally controlled the game from that point onward, even though Holland - in search of the equaliser- had a couple of chances themselves, it was FHP who ran out eventual victors.

All in all, a good competitive match played in good spirit from both sets of players...credit to the league.

Holland Sports 0-1 Forest HIll Park

After the game the FHP players, awarded the win to Sinclair....wishing him a speedy recovery.
