Forest Hill suffer Boxing defeat 2-1

With major changes to the Forest Hill squad due to the holiday period, there was still enough out on the heavy pitch at Jocky farm to get a result, bizarrely Rusthall did enough to win the proceedings.

The visitors were not fully at the races within the opening 10 minutes, as they struggled to adjust to the difficult playing surface, and were punished as Rusthall opened the scoring, from a well delivered cross from the left, to be headed past the rooted keeper by the well timed run from the forward.

Gradually Forest Hill got into match, even though the pitch wasn't quite the surface for slick passing, they did show spells of good build and link up play, and managed to create a number of good goal scoring opportunities, but the hosts keeper played well and pulled off an array of fine saves, consequently, Keeping his team in the game.

Later in the half, finally Thierry Fotso capitalised as his pace saw him one on one with the keeper, to cooly slot home for the equaliser.

In the second period, Forest Hill were by far the more attacking team, but failed to take any of the catalogue of goal scoring opportunities, as chance after chance went begging. A combination of good saves from the keeper, clearances off the line, defending, cross bars, and a lack of cutting edge finishing...... it just wasn't their day.

One chance in particular, looked as though the visitors would take the lead as Fotso again, managed to beat the keeper in the box, for what seemed a definite goal, only for the defender to slide in and put his body on the line, to stop the goal.

Literally straight away, Rusthall went up the other end and gained a soft, dubious free kick in Forest Hills defensive third.
The delivery was defended, but straight back into the mix, Rusthall managed to hit the bar, FHP failed to clear the ball, a host player reacted the quickest to head home on the second attempt.

The remainder of the Half, the hosts had their backs against the wall. The last fifteen minutes Forest Hill laid siege to the home sides goal.... but miraculously enough could not find the elusive, and well deserved equaliser.

In comparison Rusthall created a handful of chances and scored twice.... Forest Hill created many more and scored once...

No wonder there was a feeling of disappointment from the visitors, but the hosts dug in well and held out for the all important win.
