The first game of the new year proved a positive start for Forest Hill. Kent Football had issues with their away kit and could only play in their all blue home strip. FHP honoured the request and wore a changed strip to avoid an inevitable kit clash.
Forest Hill opened the scoring early on when Fotso found space in the box, after a through ball from Jamar Dobson and unleashed a powerful shot, from a tight angle, that had The keeper well beaten.
1-0
KFU levelled 10 minutes later when from a tight angled free kick, at close-range deflected into the net. The referee disallowed the goal initially, then bizarrely reversed his decision.
1-1
FHP dominated possession for the remainder of the half, but KFU looked dangerous on occasion.
H-T. 1-1
FHP started the second half well and almost took the lead when Dobson cut inside to tee up Ugwoke, but the KFU keeper gathered his effort.
The hosts went ahead again when Dobson beat the KFU backline to meet Fotso,s through ball to drill home in the corner of the net.
2-1
FHP created further chances to extend their lead, but failed to take any of the opportunities. Until eventually Fotso took full advantage from another through ball, to latch on, for his second goal of the game,a with a fine shot past the oncoming keeper, to extend the lead for the hosts.
FHP were reduced to 10 men with eight minutes remaining, KFU put on the pressure for the remaining time. Further substitutions were made that inspired the visitors.
A well hit strike from the attacking forward, left the FHP substitute keeper rooted to make a nail biting last minute .
3-2
FHP held on to the win, and more importantly a well deserved three points.
