An eventful game at Grampound saw the Foxes run out winners with a comfortable looking scoreline, but until the closing stages the home side were never out of the game.
Foxhole's pre match preparations were dealt a blow with the late withdrawal of 'keeper Carl Hadrill, but striker Steve Best proved to be a more than able deputy. The Foxes started the stronger, but it took them until the 26 minute mark to break the deadlock when top scorer Martin Gilbert prodded home from close range after good work by Nick Wakefield. Five minutes later though the hosts restored parity when a well struck Mike Cruse shot evaded Best.
Two quick goals before half time sent the visitors into the break with a 3-1 advantage. Gareth Masters on debut firing home both goals. The first a neat finish after being teed up by Gilbert and the second when he followed up after Bobbylee Johns shot was spilled by the home keeper.
Into the second period Foxhole extended their lead with the goal of the game. Phil Ionascu's long range strike thundered in off the underside of the crossbar to give the keeper no chance.
The home side refused to give up and Cruse bagged his second of the game after a strong run and shot, to reduce the deficit to 4-2. With a quarter of an hour remaining Cruse had a huge chance to complete his hat trick and make the end of the game nervous for the Foxes when the hosts were awarded a penalty after Richard Thompson had been adjudged to have fouled Glyn Ford in the box. However, Cruse's well struck penalty to the 'keeper's left was brilliantly saved by Best.
Buoyed by this reprieve the Foxes were able to make the game safe late in the game. Gilbert firing in two further goals to complete his hat trick and give the score line a slightly flattering look.
