After a 4 month lay off following COVID-19 lockdown number 3, Foxhole Vets returned to league action with a long trip to Bude Town.
After such a long period of inactivity, both sides showed signs of rustiness, but both sides managed to create chances in a goal less first half. The home side created the better openings with the visitors indebted to ‘keeper Billy Holland who pulled off some fine saves, with the Foxes also keeping the hosts at bay thanks to goal line clearances from Ali Milton and Ryan Morcom.
A minute into the second period Foxhole were awarded a penalty when Kev Grainger was tripped in the box. Steve Wheatley stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot kick.
At the midpoint of the half the Foxes extended their lead when Gareth Masters prodded home following good work by Rich James.
The home side found the back of the net, but the effort was ruled out for offside and the luckless hosts also hit the bar and missed a golden chance late on as they pressed to get back in the game.
Foxhole could have extended their lead, but Grainger and Masters were denied by the woodwork.
All in all though Foxhole were happy to come away from their long trip after the lengthy lay off with maximum points.
