Five star win

The Sky Blues were back in league action on Sunday against near neighbours Sandal Galaxy knowing a victory would take them top of the table. The Foxes welcomed back Elliott 'Lucky Charm' Harrison (as named by himself) and Matt Coxall returned to captaincy duties after an apparent holiday although you wouldn't have guessed with the hundreds of photo's posted on Facebook!

Paul Midgely continued his weekly routine of prodding Luke Mackenzie until he cracked and after an impromptu warm up of running to various random tree's with absolutely no physical of mental prematch benefit the game kicked off. The Blues started the game at a frantic pace and pressed the Galaxy goal and it wasn't long before the first goal as another Fox attack ended with a corner which Mackenzie swung in to the back post where Matt Coxall lost his marker smashing his header in to the roof of the net.

The Foxes continued to create chances as both Sean Armstrong and Pirlo were guilty of missing chances that were easier to score than miss but it didn't matter as they doubled their lead as a Pirlo ball down the line found Mackenzie, he took on one defender, before firing past the keeper nestling In at the back post. The game began to open up as Sandal responded and pressed the Sky Blues defence but Hawksley, Rattigan, Midgely and Snout remained disciplined and composed thwarting any such attacks to ensure a 2-0 halftime lead.

After a rousing speech that would have made Donald Trump proud (well without any walls built or spoken about) the second half began with the home side looking for that all important third goal. Coxall and Carey continued to battle winning everything in the middle and it was the latter who tied up the game for the Foxes as his goal was reminiscent of Frank Lampard as he burst on the scene to support the attack receiving a lovely ball to find himself one on one with the keeper before a cushioned shot rolled into the corner to extend the hosts lead.

Paul Midgely had been thrust into action down the left wing where surprisingly he looked pretty handy supplying many a good ball only to be wasted as Luke Mackenzie hadn't forgotten their earlier altercation and rather than allow Midge an assist decided to put the ball wide then score. Herries was increasingly causing the visitors defence problems. Raymundo had been called upon a few times but looked increasingly comfortable as the back five repelled a desperate Galaxy.

Sean 'I score every game' Armstrong's frustration was growing after numerous opportunities just didn't fall his way and after many a Herries attack had ended with him hitting the ball into a number of neighbours gardens rather than teeing up the Spurs supporter worries grew his Nan may have to read the Wakefield Express without his name included. However, after a long ball found the Galaxy defenders floundering Armstrong latched onto it faster than Marcus Hoggard does to his No. 8 shirt, he too found himself one on one with the Sandal stopper. Alas, his Nan can relax as he smashed the ball in to ensure the game was in the bag and the Foxes were to go top of the table, Top, Top, Top of the Table!

After calming down a delirious Dobbo who had claimed the fourth goal was entirely down to him, captain Coxall was rested and Pirlo returned to the action taking the armband much to the disgust of Rattigan. Such was his disapproval that as Pirlo was about to tap the ball in from a Mackenzie cross Rattigan tackled his own man injuring him in the process to steal HIS goal. Fortunately Pirlo forgave the cumbersome scouse who had seen his sides title hopes dashed after a terrible Coutinho injury...... #notbitter

The Daddy blew his whistle and the Foxes had won again, to extend their unbeaten league run to 7 matches. It was hard to pick out individual performances as nearly everyone impressed but the engine room of Coxall and Carey shared the MOM award although Mackenzie, Armstrong, Hawksley and Raymundo were unlucky not to receive it either. Next up for the Foxes is an away trip to Scissett in the league.
