Update on financial position

To all at Frampton Cotterell RFC

I hope all our members and your families are staying safe and well.

In these very strange and testing times, we are keen that you are kept up to date with what is going on at the Club and in particular at this time, I wanted to update you on our financial position given the impact of Coronavirus on your rugby club.

Our financial position has been under pressure over the past 3 years due to the downturn of profit generated by the bar which is insufficient to cover our normal costs and in particular, the utility bills of Crossbow House for which we are responsible under the conditions of our lease.

The 2019/20 season has seen this trend further deteriorate with the wet weather seeing many matches cancelled further reducing bar revenue and then the season being brought to an immediate premature end by Coronavirus. This has denied the rugby club of our usual end of season fund-raising activities such as the annual dinner and probably the beer festival as well.

We are actively engaged in discussions with the Community Association in the hope that we can forge a closer and collaborative working relationship going forward which we need to establish in order to reduce the costs for which we are responsible.
Whilst I’m confident the rugby club will make it through this challenging period and your committee is strongly focused on the issue including investigating potential grants and other financial assistance, it will not be achieved without a concerted effort from all members.

I’m sure there are members who have ideas on how we can move our finances forward and I would urge you to please get in contact with me with any fund-raising ideas or, hopefully, you wish to be involved in arranging any suitable initiatives, which are undertaken.

We have opened a fund-raising page for the rugby club at JUST GIVING so if you do wish to donate to the Club you’re able to do so.
You could be inventive in raising funds, making use of the fund-raising page for sponsorship etc.
It has been brought to my attention by our Junior Chairman that some of the junior members and coaches thought that the club was financially sound, unfortunately this is not the case and although the club currently runs a Junior and Seniors account, it is one club and therefore we have joint commitments.

The Just Giving fundraising page has been set up to raise funds to make sure that FRAMPTON COTTERELL RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB is still here for the start of next season (hopefully in September) as without these funds we would not be able to continue. Lots of amazing people have already generously donated and for this we are massively grateful.

I hope that this explains things more clearly.

I appreciate it is a difficult time for us all but your rugby club needs the help of all members now if it is to prosper so please get in touch.

In the meantime, stay safe and do let us know if you are having any difficulties, which we can help you with.

Kind regards

Tony Bleakman
