A double header today as Old Bristolians were able to field two teams.
A great turn out as well by Fram and a warm welcome to Rudy who was making his debut for Fram today.
Old Bristolians A 29 Frampton Cotterell 5
An even start saw some strong tackling from the off but it was Old Bristolians who took the lead following a good weaving run and despite some great defending, especially by Jamie and Jack the OB player was just able to cross to score. Some good passing by OB along the line saw them break free again shortly after and despite a great tackle by Nikolas the OB player picked himself up to cross over. Straight from the kick off the ball bounced kindly straight back to the home side and the player ran clear to extend their lead.
The second period began with a great kick out from Lewis and a fantastic chase down from Mike saw him progress deep into the home side half but unfortunately play was called back and from the penalty OB scored again. Some great defending by Ben and Marcus then saw Nikolas pick up and he ran the whole length of the pitch to score the try of the game and get Fram off the mark. It was nothing more than the visitors deserved for all the hard work they had put in. The final score though went to the home side with the last play of the game when a period of pressure ended with a try in the corner.
Old Bristolians B 25 Frampton Cotterell 10
A strong start from the home side saw them take an early lead when a good kick through the Fram defence saw the OB player catch and run to score. Despite some good defending from Charlie and Roy the lead was extended when the home side found a gap to cross over and shortly after the ball was intercepted and ran through for a further try.
A good pick up and spin by Rudy put Fram in good field position but despite a strong run by Gabe the visitors could not get the break through. A good passing move by the home side saw them score again in the corner and a further score came when OB found a gap to break clear. Fram were having to defend well and both Olley and Finn were fighting off the OB forwards.
Fram were still fighting though and they got their reward after a strong run by Nikolas who seemed to be everywhere found Lewis and his burst of speed put him clear to score. As the game came to a close the ball fell to Matt and his jinking run put him clear and he outpaced the OB defence to cross the line again.
A great effort by the boys today against a strong Old Bristolians side and a lot of spirit shown, some great tackling and some good tries nothing more than they deserved, well done Fram.
