Three in a row for the U13s

What a great day for rugby, the sun was shining and it was Mother’s Day too. Could the Green Army make it three in a row against a strong visiting Nailsea team.

From the kick off by Nailsea Finn caught and his burst of speed and pass found Jamie whose run and pass to Mike saw his determination pay off with a try within the first minute of the game. Again, Nailsea kicked off and this time it was Marcus with the superb catch, he laid off to Jack who in turn found Nik and his run wide found the space to cut inside and run clear for the score, with Jack converting Fram had a 12-0 lead inside two minutes. The visitors were down but not out of it and they regrouped and started to pressurise themselves. When a dropped ball was picked up by them, the winger picked up and sprinted clear for a try of their own. The move of the game followed when a high kick off from Nailsea was caught by Matt and his jinking run put him 5 meters from the line before the tackle came in, fortunately the ever alert Lewis was supporting and was able to take the pass, he progressed but was held up just short of the line before handing off to Matt again for him to cut inside for the score. The battle for midfield continued before a kick out by the visitors bounced kindly for the on rushing attacker and the lead was closed with a try in the corner. It was non stop action and a superb run by Nik put the home side in great field position before his off load to Matt, he then beat several tackles to cross over for a great supporting try, again Jack converting to make the half time score 24-10 to the home side.

Straight from the kick off Nailsea picked up and ran clear to score narrowing the gap and with the conversion they were within a score of being level, it was 24-17. This time Nailsea kicked off and Matt caught again, his run and pass found Lewis who ran clear of the chasing defence to find Jamie and his clever run found a gap and he crossed the line to score, again Jack converting to make the score 31-17. Soon after following a scrum with a Nailsea put it, Fram pushed hard and won the ball and when it came loose it was Khalid who progressed forward and he off loaded to Matt who burst clear for his hat trick of tries to make the score 36-17. Roy, Gabe and Olley were working hard and helped Nik cross over shortly after but he had put a foot in touch and the try was disallowed. With Fram then on the back foot, a smart kick out by Jamie bounced kindly and the busy Lewis picked up for a well deserved try of his own. The home team had put in a huge amount of work so it was no surprise that Nailsea battled back and created several tries of their own as the game came to a close making the final score Frampton Cotterell 41 Nailsea 29.

A great game of rugby this morning and battled out by two great teams. Very competitive but played fairly and supported well by both sets of parents with thanks to Steve for refereeing. Well done boys, a great display today and well deserved for all the hard work put into training.
