Plate - Quarter Final
Frampton Cotterell 0 North Bristol 10

A long day of rugby say Frampton narrowly beaten in the plate quarter finals on a cold but dry days rugby at Matson, Gloucester.
It also proved to be a challenging day for the parents as they were given the task of trying to erect Brian’s tent !
The day started with Ross on Wye beating Dursley by two tries to nil before Frampton took to the pitch against a Dursley side that had very narrowly beaten them several weeks before. With a stronger side Frampton got off to the perfect start. From the kick off a good run by Leo and pass to Jamie resulted in the first score of the day. Shortly after following good possession by Frampton it was Nikolas who went over after a strong run and just before half time Jamie broke the Dursley line to run clear to make the score 15-0. It was more of the same in the second half, following a scrum Lewis picked up the ball and a good passing move saw Matt picked up to run through and score to make the final score 20-0 to Frampton.
Frampton took the field again after a short break against the hosts, Matson. A strong Matson team started well and after a good move went over to open the scoring. Matson scored again shortly after following a kick by Frampton that was recovered well and the home side pushed over. They extended their lead on the final play of the half to make the score 15-0. Frampton defended well in the second half and were unlucky not to score themselves but it was Matson again who scored following a lineout, picked up by Matson who broke the Frampton line to make the final score 20-0.
Matson then played again, beating Ross on Wye 10-0 before beating Dursley 35-0 to confirm their status as group winners.
The final game of the group saw Frampton play Ross on Wye. A very even first half saw no score despite Frampton camping out in Ross’s half however they were unable to make their pressure count. The second half started with Ross pressurising and following a scrum down in the Frampton half the ball was worked wide by Ross and they went over for the only try of the game to win 5-0.
This meant that Frampton were drawn in the quarter finals of the plate where they were to play North Bristol. Unfortunately the boys had a wait before the other groups games were played out but took the pitch in good spirits. A very even game ensued between two competitive and evenly matched teams but it was North Bristol who eventually ran out victors, 10-0.
A big thank you to all who attended, coaches and parents alike who I am sure enjoyed the day and for Matson for being great hosts.
