A very fresh start to the day for the boys this morning against a strong
Thornbury side who came out on top today in this physical encounter.
With Thornbury a player short and having to borrow a Fram player for each
quarter the game started slowly for Fram and following a kick out the ball
was caught by Thornbury whose player ran through to cross over for the
try to open the scoring in the very early stages of the game. Then shortly
after following some broken play the ball again fell to Thornbury to score the
second try of the game, with both conversions being missed the score ended
10-0 to Thornbury after the first quarter.
A more even second quarter saw Thornbury score again following a scrum,
which was worked wide and following the conversion made the score 17-0
to Thornbury at the half. Fram found it difficult to work the ball wide where
Callum and Ben were waiting to exploit any space.
Fram fought back in the third quarter and got on the score sheet following a
penalty which Charlie tapped to George who ploughed his way over in typical
style and after converting his own try narrowed the gap to 17-7. Thornbury
fought back however and would have scored again but for a great tackle by
Marcus right on the Frampton line.
The fourth quarter saw some competitive play from Fram and some strong
runs by Gabe and Jamie saw them pressurise the Thornbury line but it was the
visitors who scored again right on the final whistle to make the final score 24-7
to Thornbury.
Well done to the boys today in difficult conditions and for the Mums and Dads
for braving the elements to cheer their team on.
