You’ve heard of a game of two halves, well this was a game of two games !
Both won by Fram in a very entertaining, fresh and foggy February morning.
Game 1 - Yatton 5 Frampton Cotterell 20
With both teams adjusting to changes of rules for this game Frampton took
the opportunity to rotate players in different positions. Ben taking lineouts and
Leo at scrum half for the start of the first game.
An even start saw both teams sounding each other out before Lewis broke
the deadlock with a try in the corner. The scores were soon level though when
Yatton pressure paid off with a try through the centre.
Frampton got their noses in front again when following a scrum Lewis passed
the ball out to Jamie who powered his way over to score. Some great passing
saw another try for Fram, again a scrum, Lewis to Matt, Matt to Gabe, picked
up by George and over for the try, it was poetry in motion ! Another score
followed, this time from a penalty to Fram, taken by Jack, a short pass to
George and there was only one outcome, to make the final score 20-5 in
Frampton’s favour.
Game 2 - Yatton 5 Frampton Cotterell 25
It was very much of the same in the second game and an identical move
to the first game when following a penalty, Jack passed to George who
bulldozered his way through to open the scoring. Yatton quickly got back on
level terms though when after a scrum and some good passing saw a try
through the middle. Fram fought back though and when the ball was stolen
by Jamie, a strong run saw him break through the Yatton line to score in the
corner. A great run by Jack saw him advance well into the Yatton half and
following the tackle the ball was picked up by an ever alert Gabe to cross over
for a score. Confidence was high and Jamie scored again right at the end of
the half following another great passing move to make the score 20-5 to Fram
at the half.
The second half was a more even contest and the only try scored was again
by Fram. Another penalty by Jack was again passed to George and a string
run resulted in Lewis picking up and going over for the score. Fram were
unlucky not to add to the score though as several powerful runs by Finn saw
him unlucky not to break through and an ever persistent Charlie made some
vital tackles and runs to keep Yatton out. Great support as always from Ollie
ensured that Fram stayed strong throughout.
It certainly seemed that the training over the past few weeks had paid off and
the boys were encouraged by the vocal support from coaches Ned, Adam,
Steve and Brian and parents alike, smiley faces all round, well done team !
