After a false start, (due to the Ref not being able to count to nine), Plain came straight at us with some fast ball handling. Undaunted Frampton upped their game and tackle rate, closing the opposition down who were playing an expansive game. Frampton’s reply came from Jamie with a supported run in to space up the centre of the pitch for the first try.
The restart provided Broad Plain with a quick response that saw the ball go through two or three pairs of hands before being put over. The remainder of the second quarter saw some excellent runs of attacking and defensive play from both teams. After a prolonged period on our five metre line Broad Plain finally found a gap in the Frampton defence for their second try.
The first score in the third quarter came to Calumn on the left wing with a run up the line just managing to keep the ball in play. The play was well matched but tragically Frampton were denied a further two trys. Jack’s valiant attempt stretching out to the tryline in a melee of bodies was not seen by Ref, the TMO was not on hand and the try couldn’t be given. Jamie’s potential second of the game try was disallowed as his enthusiasm and momentum carried him past the dead ball line before he grounded it. A third try in the fourth quarter for Plain sealed the final result of an enjoyable morning of Rugby.
