It was always going to be a tough match; early in the season the U7s had come up against the same opposition and Kingswood had come up just short at the Frampton Cotterell competition. It was going to be interesting to see how the two teams had developed over the interceding 4 months.
First there needed to be some additional organisation: the size of the two teams meant that it was possible for three games to be played at the same time. A makeshift third pitch was hurriedly prepared, the squads split into three and off we went.
It was clear to everyone watching that the two teams were evenly matched; unrelenting in attack, stubborn in defence.
Both teams had clearly learned a lot since their last meeting and were ready with a few surprises for each other. In attack, the Frampton players were met at every turn by the ever present pressure that was applied by Kingswood. Frampton however remained motivated and keen to show their ability to take advantage of a missed pass, turn the ball over and run with determination to score.
Frampton worked hard to try to combat the Kingswood supported play and although the end result was close, This was a great sign of how far both teams have progressed in such a short space of time.
Until next time
