Another 5 Star Performance

Freeland entertained Horspath in their final league fixture before the Christmas break.
After only just beating a very resilient Yarnton side the week before, they all knew that they had to be more clinical in the final third of the pitch.
The home side started extremely well in very wet conditions. They were on the front foot and were looking very dangerous with the pace of Tom McCudden and Danny Taylor running in behind.
The Reds first goal was coming and this came courtesy of Tom Marvel McCudden with a great left footed shot from outside the box from fully 25 Yards.
Freeland were in total control now and it was only a matter of time before they added a second.
It was that man again Tom McCudden. A very well directed header after a lovely ball in from the left-hand side.
Game over you would like to think. This certainly was not the case as a tricky horspath side with glimpses of quality started to get themselves back into the game. This started with the away side gaining more possession and the home side dropping off. Throw into the mix Freeland started to give some fouls away in their final third and the goal came for the away side.
A free kick right on the edge of the 18yard box which was very well saved by Adam Casper Lonsdale (lucky to be on the pitch) was then followed up by the horspath striker to tap in the rebound.
Game now well and truly on. Only very short lived for the away side though, as the goal seemed to reenergise the home side. The goal came straight away through the extremely hard working Jason Lonsdale. In my opinion this is when the game changed for the reds. The goal came just on the stroke of halftime and it shattered the away side.
Freeland lead 3-1 at halftime. Can Freeland now go on and get a few more goals in the second half.
They did and the fourth came with the move of the game. A flowing move that started with the ball in the hands of goalkeeper Adam Lonsdale. He released Tom McCudden who ran the whole length of the pitch to square for Tom Weeden to tap in at the far post. A great team goal.
Then that man again was involved in the Freeland’s fifth goal Tom McCudden firing another ball in from the left-hand side to find top scorer Danny Taylor to score the home sides fifth goal.
The game finishes 5-1 and Freeland have got to be happy with that. Now for the Big one Headington Amateurs away in the 3rd round of the senior cup. One of the biggest games in the club’s history. Can we make the 4th round I believe we can? One last big push before Christmas lads. I love Saturdays.
