Freeland travelled to Long Crendon in the Presidents Cup 1st Round.
In a game on paper the Reds looked clear favourites to progress to round 2.
In the opening exchanges the Reds struggled to find any rhythm and were very poor as a defensive and attacking unit.
The home side took the lead when a hopeful punt up field at best found the top corner of Adam Lonsdale s net. The goal keeper had been sunning himself only 48 hours earlier In Marbella and I think he was still sat on his sun lounger sipping a cold Snowball. (His Favourite Tipple).
Things got even worse for the away side when Crendon doubled their lead. Miscommunication in the Reds defence resulted in the Crendon striker nipping into to score.
Panic stations well not quite as the away side had created a few chances of there own and I’m sure this Freeland side thought that it was only a matter of time before they got their goal.
Wrong in the last few minutes of the first half Long Crendon scored again. Its safe to say that was one of those goals that will only happen once for the lad. Fully 35 Yards out on the angle finding the opposite top corner leaving Adam Lonsdale absolutely no chance what so ever.
Three nil down and a mountain to climb second half. Freeland were still really struggling to get a foot hold in the game.
The only crumb of comfort for the away side was that they did manage to grab two late goals courtesy of Adam Bowerman 80 Mins and Danny Taylor 85Mins.
This did set up a frantic finish although on refection the Reds didn’t deserve to go through after such a disappointing display for the most part.
Most try much harder. I didn’t love this Saturday and we move on. See you next weekend.
