First Half Flyer Again

Freeland on the road again and they will have to get used to it as they are playing nine weeks on the bounce away from home.
This time they travelled to the arch enemy Mansfield Road. They had had so many battles over the years and Freeland expected a tough game in round 2 of the Charity cup.
The away side started well and were in control on a pitch that was looking back to its best after a few ropey seasons.
Then we were all introduced to the Tom Parker show. This consisted of the Freeland midfielder scoring a 12 min hattrick. The first a trademark 25-yard screamer that evaded everyone and the keeper turning to retrieve the ball from the net rather than try and save the shot.
The second a great header from his partner in crimes corner and a third coming from another freekick that bypassed everyone with the keeper stood against the post like he was waiting for the S1 bus.
If only it could have been with the right foot?? Never mind that one is for standing on. So, 3 – 0 up and cruising. Then surprisingly it was another Tom that scored Freeland’s 4th a miss hit shot which he even though he had missed after rounding the Keeper. (Still waiting for the Bus).
Unfortunately, Tom Parker was upset he didn’t get the 4th Fained a dodgy Hamstring and came off.
Not much else to report first half apart from Liam (I am the angriest man on the Planet) Harris showing the Mansfield Road Midfielder the ball in the face from a throwing. (Obviously missing Tom Parker).
The second half was pretty much a non-event Freeland were poor and did let Mansfield Road off the hook. The away side did sit back and did give the home side more time on the ball. They did get a consolation goal from a very corner with about 20 mins left.
Game finished the Reds di enough and we move on. Hopefully Guy Swain will be back soon after he decided that he wanted to join Tom Parker in the changing rooms early after being tackled by Fresh Air. Looked like a bad one and hopefully won’t be away for too long.
Still loving Saturdays!!! Just struggling with second halves at the minute to be honest.
