Freeland Welcomed Launton to the Simon Hole memorial ground on a very cold Saturday afternoon. Looking at the league table can be very deceiving and you would like to think this would be another good day at the office for the Red men. In truth i have always felt that if you don t respect your opposition then it will come back to bite you.
We played Launton away and we only scraped a 1-2 victory and this was a game in which Freeland looked very much under the weather. This time round thankfully things were different. Tom McCudden in fantastic form of late, and it was that very man that got us underway in this game. A crashing left foot drive ( There is a theme here) beating the outstanding Launton goalkeeper high to his right. The Reds were playing some fantastic stuff with lots of confidence and it was a joy to watch.
The next goal came after half and hour and surprise surprise it was that man again on the score-sheet and again it was another left foot finish that flew past the launton goalkeeper to double the Red mens lead.
Halftime arrived and the home side were in a fantastic position to go on and win the game handsomely. In truth the second half was a bit flat and to be fair to Launton they did press the ball higher up the pitch and defend a hell of a lot better than the first 45 mins.
The only surprise for the supporters was that freelands third goal didn't come from one of the deadly duo.
It was im a new man Liam Harris that scored a great goal from the edge of the box after some great football from the homeside.
Liams promise to manager for the second half of the season. 1) Not to get Booked 2) stay off the Yeoman chicken Burgers 3) Lime and soda after a match.4) not to spend anymore Friday nights in Melksham.5) Not to walk 6 miles on a Saturday morning with the dogs in a sauna suit.
I will update you on all of the above later in the season.
Love Saturdays,Love the Redmen.Bring on the weekend.
