Freeland ran our victors in the much anticipated charity cup final in the first count cup final of the season

The game being played in front of more than 400 people started at a frantic pace and Freeland took an early lead in the 2nd minute when Goal scoring centre half Stuart hole latched onto a corner from Conor Allmond, the former headed the ball Into the net past a despairing Neil rose in the hanbrough goal. The defender suffered a dislocated finger in the process.

This sprung hanborough into life and got back on level terms on 15mins, after some good work from In form jack Morton and some sloppy defending the ball fell to skipper Will potter to unleashed a rare right footed shot which went under Freeland keeper Adam lonsdale.

Hanborough striker jack Morton Had a chance to double their lead on 25mins when he unleashed a glorious right footed shot which looked to be goal bound but Freelands keeper adam lonsdale pulled out an unbelievable save and Palmed the shot into the post.

Freeland had a glorious opportunity to score a second through Danny Taylor, after some neat foot work form the burley striker he couldnt quite execute the finish and shot wide.

The second half wasn’t as frantic as the first half as both sets of players settled down.

Freeland grabbed their second of the game through Tom McCudden, some lovely work from Eddie Parker who found striker Jason lonsdale, the forward swing a delightful ball into the box which the in from Tom McCudden got to first before a despairing Neil rose, the forward tapped home into an empty net.

Hanbrough had the best chance of the game to get back on level terms when Hanbrough substitute Arran hobley put a glorious cross into the six yard box but Aston leach with the goal at his mercy smashed over the bar from 4 yards out!

Into the closing stages of the game and Freeland were in control, they should’ve had a third when a Conor Allmond free kick was headed goal bound by lewis White but the centre half struck the post.

Freeland finally grabbed their third and deserved final goal from the penalty spot, Tom Parker’s passed a pin point through ball to Tom McCudden, the forward was bundled over by hanbrough a centre half Jonny ayris, the ref initially waved away the feeeland protests but the linesman in a better position gave the penalty. McCudden picked himself up and made no mistake from the spot and grabbed his 20th of the season.

The game ended 3-1 to Freeland a deserved win. The game played in the right sprint and a credit to both sides a great advert for local football.
