News of his sad passing

Former Frickley player & manager Cyril Wooliscroft died recently, aged 88. Cyril played for the Blues between 55/56 & 57/58 seasons, playing around 60 games, mainly at left back. But he is probably more renowned as our manager between April 1963 & November 1973 - during that period we reached the 1st round of the FA Cup 3 times (Notts County, Halifax & Rotherham), reached the Sheffield Senior Cup final 5 times (winning it twice) & finishing runners up in the Midland Central League in 72/73.

He also managed Retford Town.

His funeral is at Rose Hill Crematorium, Cantley on Monday 27th February at 2.40pm.

The club wishes to pass on its sincerest condolences to his family.

My thanks to John Longbottom (once again) for his extensive research.

On a personal note, Cyril & John Mooney were involved with the club when I first started watching them
