Jake Picton was the man of the moment, scoring a hat-trick, whilst Luke Hinsley added the other with a well taken strike. New loan signing from Alfreton Jay McFadzean made his debut.

After going close in the fifth minute when Gavin Allott headed against a post following a cross from Joe Fox, the Blues took the lead in the 12th minute when Luke Jeffs fed Picton who easily beat Jamie Annerson.

The lead lasted just two minutes as Ben Algar equalised with a well taken 20 yard shot following a throw-in.

Annerson denied Allott before Hinsley volleyed the Blues ahead from 20 yards after 18 minutes.

The rest of the half was end to end stuff with Tom Woodhead coming to the Blues’ rescue as he denied both James Gregory and Jamie Hadfield whilst the Blues threatened through Allott and Fox.

Andy Gascoigne shot over the bar when well placed for the visitors early in the second half before the Blues extended their lead on 57 minutes as Allott’s neat lob was pushed out by Annerson for Picton to ram in the rebound from an acute angle.

Woodhead denied Gascoigne again after Joe Wilcox’s back past left him clean through but Picton completed his hat-trick on 78 minutes, following up another Allott shot which Annerson could only parry into his path.

Substitute Ollie Fearon could have added a fifth when Allott sent him clear but he was denied by Annerson.
