Yorkshire Disability Cricket Team play in Softball Event

The Terriers travelled to Retford CC to play in an afternoon of diverse cricket to celebrate the Women and Girls big cricket month. The team, which have two female players amongst their squad had a mixed afternoon, playing two Women and Girls Softball Cricket matches.

In a season, hit by COVID -19 and washed out matches, the team were pleased to get out onto the park and get some game time.

First up was Retford Ladies who scored 303-2 batting first, in reply the Terriers scored 285-3. Good performances from John Reeves (19) who top scored and Claire Domville taking 2-11 on debut.

The second game was against the Clumber Storm. Terriers batted first and scored 303-2 , with Alistair Domville (22), Luke Rogers (20) & Cameron Groves (21) batting well. The Storm played well with the Terriers restricting them 285-3, Louise Page (25), Becky Law (20) & Chantelle McDowall (23) playing well.

The day was about diversity and inclusion, a theme that was shown by all teams, with substitute fielders and creative game formats to allow every player to participate with bat and ball.

Thanks to Retford CC who hosted the event.
