Sandhurst made the short trip to The Rec looking to build on their Berks & Bucks win over Burnham of the Hellenic league, while Frimley were hoping to build on a run of 7 league wins in a row and were also looking to bounce back from the Aldershot Senior Cup defeat to Camberley.
Frimley made numerous changes from that game with the main changes being James Batchelor returning after recovering from the knock he got a Chessington last week, Calum Nimmo to play in central defence after illness, a move which saw Tony Trinder move out to left back, Roberto Dos Santos played on the left, and Ben Dearlove on the right of midfield as Leo Medrado and Eddie McKinlay moved up front due to Dan Bone only being fit enough for the bench and George Bowerman failing a late fitness test after picking up their own knocks in the last league game at Chessington.

Sandhurst had a glorious chance inside the first minute when a mix up in defence saw Haydon Richardson shoot over from the edge of the box when the goal was empty as Chris Harris was trying to get back. Richardson left the game in the 4th minute, assuming he pulled something taking that shot and was replaced by Paul Rake. Not much happened in the game, but in the tenth minute a delay in the game occurred.
The linesman took a fall and received treatment, meaning there was a ten-minute delay. After being taken to hospital, we are happy to report he returned to the club after the game to pick up his belongings, a good sign after looking to have hit his head when falling.

When play resumed, Sandhurst had an offside given against them and Carl Prestidge picked up a booking for kicking the ball away. The break in play seemed to work for Frimley as they had their first chance of the game in the 21st minute, Trinder playing the ball out of defence to Dos Santos on the wing. The winger managed to get past his marker and get a cross into the box which found Dearlove who shot over when well positioned.

After the half hour, the pressure Frimley were building finally saw them rewarded with a goal. Dos Santos had an effort from distance, which was Stopped by Hamer on the edge of the box. The midfielder’s quick thinking saw him turn on the ball and strike a beautiful shot that ended up in the top corner. Matt Watson in the Sandhurst goal stood and watched as he had no chance. Frimley 1-0 Sandhurst.

A minute later, Sandhurst won a corner – set pieces being they main area of the game that they were looking quite threatening, as they were not really troubling Frimley from open play - this one ended with an effort that hit the side netting. Nearing half time, Frimley found the net again, Cam Miller finished past the keeper but was adjudged to be offside from Dearlove’s knock on.
Injury time saw a chance at each end, first Hamer unfortunately couldn't connect when given the chance to shoot from Dearlove’s pullback. Then Sandhurst went up the other end and saw the ball hit the post when Frimley tried clearing for a corner. They won a free kick out wide after a scramble but only managed to see a header go wide when crossing into the box from the resulting free kick.

Half Time – Frimley 1-0 Sandhurst.

A minute into the 2nd period saw Charlie Oakley put the ball into the net for the away team, but the flag was up for offside. Sandhurst continued their good start to the half and had another effort after Rake managed to get a shot at goal from outside the box, but saw his effort go wide. Frimley went up the other end and saw Medrado put through by Hamer, unfortunately not connecting well with the ball. Another chance came the home team’s way as they were starting to dominate again after their good first half showing.

Medrado knocked on a long ball to find McKinlay, the forward managed to make room for himself on the edge of the box but saw his shot go over the bar. Sandhurst made another change on 54 minutes to try and get back on level terms, Patrick Gardner replacing Prestidge. The change did not work however, as on the hour Frimley increased their lead.
Batchelor played a ball to the edge of the box which saw Jim Ward knock on to Dearlove, who managed to keep the ball moving on to Miller who slotted the ball into the net from 10 yards. 2-0 to Frimley and the lead wasn’t undeserved.

Hamer picked up a booking for a pull back which prevented a Sandhurst counter attack. Oakley managed to get in behind the Frimley defence soon after, but Trinder got back well to block any attempt the striker could have had at goal. A midfield battle ensued, Oakley’s effort from range being the main action, Harris making the save. As the game went into the final 10 minutes, Frimley upped the tempo again and took control of the game further.
First, a poor back pass from a Sandhurst defender saw McKinlay run onto the ball, but he was pulled back when well positioned to shoot but nothing given by the referee. With two minutes remaining though, Frimley put a seal on the game when they won a free kick around 40 yards from goal.

Calum Nimmo’s fierce drive into the box eluded everyone and bounced past the keeper and into the net to make it Frimley 3-0 Sandhurst. The defender then managed to get back and clear from Oakley when he looked well placed to score. From that corner a penalty was given against the home team for handball. Oakley stepped up and saw his effort saved by Harris and the striker was then beaten to the ball by Trinder who cleared.

The game finished Frimley 3-0 Sandhurst. Frimley stay top after 8 league wins in a row and extended their lead to three points. Another Cup game coming up on Tuesday when Bagshot visit the Rec for a fourth game between the two clubs this season in the Surrey Premier Cup.
