Strong home performance leads to victory

Frimley headed into this important league fixture looking to make up the lost points in last weeks draw with Godalming. Back in November, Epsom took the points with a 3-0 victory and came into the fixture with high hopes after a long run of winning results.
Frimley , having only lost 1 fixture in all competitions since that game away to Epsom (1 loss in 17 fixtures) went into the game full of confidence and the managers set the side up to ensure the 3 points were going Frimleys way.

With recent suspensions and injuries, Recent signing Will Neville started in his first game for the side at CB, which was nice to see after having no available recognised CB's the last few fixtures, and Louis Hibbert, Dan Bone and Mark Primett coming into the starting lineup in place of the unavailable James Vass, Ben Dearlove and Dan Thorogood. Leo Medrado starting the game on the bench with the managers trying something different in the sides shape and style.

From kickoff, you could see the managers pre match talk had been well received and there was a level of directness from The green, off the ball as well as on it with Epsom struggling to contain the quick temp of play in the midfield and the mixture of passes from the backline to the forwards.

Frimley took the lead through Sean Latimer, who strongly held off Epsom defence and slotted home confidently under the keeper. 1-0 Frimley.
Latimer then made it two not long after. Bringing the ball under control, Latimer managed to find himself a yard of space and whipped a low shot into the bottom right hand corner of the goal, catching the keeper cold as it didn't look like Latimer had any room to get a shot away. 2-0

The Third goal is one that will be talked about for a while, Chris Harris sent a long kick up the field, it bounced over the keeper and into an empty net. There are questions about whether the on running Dan Bone had used his hand to divert the ball passed the keeper, however both officials shared the same view in that Dan Bone didn't actually touch the ball, although the position of his hand at the time made it difficult to judge for those watching, so the goal was given and Chris Harris was credited with the goal. 3-0 Frimley

Epsom had a few pot shots from outside the box when they did manage to get passed a resolute Frimley Midfield, however Frimley could and should have made it 4 when Latimer was taken down in the box, however Mckinlay, who has scored all of his penalties so far this season, hit the woodwork.

HT 3-0 Frimley. A half where Epsom couldn't handle the commitment, determination and strength of the Frimley lineup, Strong tackles, quick feet and a real mix of long/short passing football made it hard for Epsom to counter.

Second half,

Epsom took their halftime team talk out on the pitch, and it had a bit of an effect as they looked to get back into the fixture, but within minutes of the restart Frimley made it 4-0. Dan Bone picking the ball up on the left hand side, cutting in and sending a powerful shot into the bottom left hand corner.

With the game potentially wrapped up, substitutions were made and for a short while, it upset the balance and Epsom go themselves a goal. A big kick upfield had caught Frimley of balance, with keeper Harris colliding with the onrushing striker who managed to get a toe to the ball into an empty net. 4-1

Epsom then won themselves a penalty, it was a needless foul to make as it looked like Harris was destined to get to the ball, but a shirt was tugged, pen given and 4-2 it was.

Frimley had chances to extend their lead however, Hibbert, Medrado, Bowerman all having efforts going close, but no further goals were to be had and 4-2 it finished.

A fantastic win for Frimley Green and very much deserved.
Motm was given to Sean Latimer, a brace, excellent control of the ball and was a constant nightmare for the Epsom backline.

Next week we travel to Sandhurst Town
