On Monday 18th July the demolition gang moved in to start final destruction of last remaining part of Fry Club.

The Somerdale lodge being the last complete building remaining from yesteryear fell to the demolition gang. The Lodge had started life as Somerdale Youth Club. “Motto -Youth Is Hope”. (Juventus Est spe)

Where many a young person undertook their Duke of Edinburgh’s awards. Indeed, the Duke of Edinburgh - HRH Prince Philip visited the site in the Early 1960’s

Besides Awards, the young Dave Noble, Pete Wilkins, Harry Harris, Alan Jones, Bomber Bruton, and Brian Davies and Brothers, along with Many, Many More were fully involved with the Youth club , Benefiting from the many adventures to be had, Camping, Outward bounds, Drama, and Football !

The now Fry Club JFC started life here, in this building. Firstly as Somerdale Youth club and then joining up with Keynsham Wanderers (Les Stroud & Team). To become

Somerdale Wanders JFC. Then Later to be renamed Fry Club Junior Football Club. With the Changing rooms in the Lodge becoming the dedicated Fry Club Junior’s Centre.

The Lodge was a popular venue and many a good night Party and fund Raising events held here.

So it is sad to see part of our History being demolished.

But as they say “ Up from the ashes grows the roses of Success”!
