After back to back defeats it was imperative the firsts got September under way with a win. Travelling to title contenders Barley Mow was always going to be difficult, and with players missing and playing on 3G most things pre-match didn’t go in our favour. However GUFC got off to a good start with veteran striker Jamie Steele opening the scoring. The score line was doubled by Tom Barker, who’s had a fine start to the season scoring his third goal. Gamlingay’s third was from the penalty spot, captain Sam Bonham duly stepped up and converted sealing the points for the Rearlights. The home side did provide a scare by bringing the score to 1-3 however Ben Small added the cherry to the top of the cake making it 1-4, a great result for the team.
