In a game very much of two halves, which eerily mirrored each other. In the first half, Withcford were the dominant team, forcing a few smart saves from Matt Cowell In goal, Gamlingay stood firm until late in the half with Witchford breaking the deadlock with maybe 5 minutes left in the first half. The second half was pure domination from Gamlingay, with the hosts only threatening on the occasional break again Matt Cowell was equal to it all. GUFC hit the post, the bar, squandered some chances, forced some great saves but couldn’t beat the keeper. Sam Bonham who came on early in the second half and changed the game was the hero, popping up with an important header as the game approached the 90th minute. Given both teams dominated a half each, a draw was probably fair, but if GUFC would have had 5 more minutes on the clock after scoring, they may well have come away with all three, such was the dominance in the second half.
