The first team with a depleted squad made the journey to March town, where they had already won this season (in the cup). The first half was fairly even, with Flappy making one great save and a couple of routine ones, with GUFC also having a few half chances of their own. Gamlingay came alive in the second half, where they took the lead from Jimmy Walker turning in Josh Palmers pinpoint cross. The Rearlights pressed on creating numerous openings, forcing many saves from March's number 1. Halfway through the second half, the home team were awarded a soft penalty- video replay (yes) suggested there was little/no contact, however VAR was not in use unfortunately. This didn't disrupt Gamlingay who continued to be the attacking side, however with ten minutes left, March town broke down the left and cut the ball back to the edge of the box where their midfielder drove one into the top corner, off the post, a sweet strike he wouldn't repeat if he had another 20 goes. Unfortunately, despite creating a few more chances, the golden one didn't come, so despite enjoying more of the ball, and creating more/and better chances, GUFC were undone by a wonder strike.
