Garforth Town are back in NCEL action this weekend, taking on Maltby Main away from home on Saturday afternoon at 3pm.

The Miners salvaged a point at Thackley in midweek bringing the scores level in the second half on a snowy evening. They’re now back on the road again to Rotherham on Saturday, aiming to do the double over their upcoming opponents for this season.

The hosts are having a respectable season in the league, amidst a tightly contested midtable. Maltby Main sit 10th in the table up to now, having won 13 of their 31 matches.
When the two sides met at the Bannister Prentice stadium earlier this season, an enthralling and memorable victory came for Garforth – who ran out 7-3 victors on the day following goals from Sam Barker, James Burgess, Charlie Marshall and Luis da Silva.

Garforth had to dig deep last time out after drawing away with Thackley. James Burgess and Nick Thompson’s goals brought the scores back to level to 2-2, securing a point to take home after Town had initially gone 2-0 down and keeping the side in 5th place.

Maltby Main come into the match unbeaten in 5, having won 2 and drawn 3. A strong run of form in the second half of the season has landed the side towards the top of the midtable.

Garforth need to find a way to create goals and stop conceding them, having lost out on all 3 points at Eccleshill in their second to last game despite creating plenty of chances and limiting their opponents.

Maltby Main have struggled to make their home a tough visit however, winning 5, drawing 7 and losing 4 at Muglet Lane.

As the season approaches its close Paul Marshall will be focused on getting as many points on the board as possible, and victory on Saturday could go a long way.
